Barry and Maya Spector's Day of the Dead Ritual

Whether or not we have recently lost loved ones, we all carry a heavy load of grief and stress simply by living in these times. When we can’t find ways to drop the weight of this emotional burden, we can become hopeless, bitter or numb. Letting it go makes room for a new kind of imagination to enter. The release of these emotions requires a safe space and a caring community.

Italy's Witches and Medicine Women, Part 1

Italy's Witches and Medicine Women,  the name of Karyn Crisis' forthcoming book, is based on her research while living among locals in Italy.  She's interviewed 23 Streghe, Nonna healers, authors. She's walked on remains of 2,000 year old Goddess temples, received healing treatments from Italian witches, learned about Europe's 500 year long Inquisition, and crawled along the cobblestones where women were burned… and delved deep into the heart of what truly is an "Italian Witch."

Drum-Dance-Flow Circle for July's Full Moon

Let’s have a drum-dance-flow circle the day after the full moon in July! Everyone is welcome, at any level of skill and interest. Please bring a drum or another instrument, if you have one (or more) and wish to play and/or share. (Don’t let lack of a drum keep you from coming, though! We often have extras, as well as jingle bells, egg shakers, and other small percussive instruments, or if you find an empty water bottle, a pie pan, etc, those can make cool sounds, too. Get creative!) Folks wanting to dance, hoop, spin, or just move to the music in their own way are wanted, too! Kids are very welcome. Please do watch out for your little ones in the proximity of spinning hoops, staffs, poi, etc.

Surely now is the time to gather more light and bring it forth.

There is no denying it: these are scary times. Undocumented immigrants fear being torn from their homes and deported; transgender people fear increased violence and the loss of rights gained in recent years; people of color fear an increasingly militarized police force that disproportionately commits violence against their communities. In order for our collective power to conquer the sources of our fear, we need an intersectional movement that works nonviolently towards justice for all. And, that’s where us angelic troublemakers come in.
